PACEline CMA - Charge amplifier including TEDS and zoom function
The PACEline CMA charge amplifier (analog amplifier) ensures reliable transmission of data from piezoelectric force transducers. This is done by signal conditioning to +/-10 V analog standard signals.
Product Description
The PACEline CMA charge amplifier transfers the many benefits of TEDS technology to the world of piezoelectric force measurement for the first time. TEDS is the Transducer Electronic Data Sheet - and enables automatic sensor identification providing many benefits for more efficiency and reliability of measurement processes. Which means: TEDS relieves you from complex parameterization of all individual components of the measurement chain prior to measurement.
Another PACEline CMA benefit is the availability of two calibrated measuring ranges amounting to 100% and 20% of the nominal (rated) force. The second measuring range opens up a "zoom on your production". You can check overload-critical sections at high resolution like looking through a magnifying glass. Extra comfort and significance which normally is only available with strain gage technology-based transducers. PACEline CMA is furthermore optionally available with two measurement inputs to allow cost-efficient summation of two measurement signals.
The workmanship of PACEline CMA is top class as well: Thanks to electrically isolated inputs and electrical isolation from mains between measurement signal and supply voltage the charge amplifier meets the demanding requirements of adverse industrial environments.
The CMA charge amplifier is part of the complete "PACEline" piezoelectric force measurement chain which, due to the perfect matching of transducers and charge amplifier, ensures both reliable test results and minimal set-up times.
Benefit from high resolution resulting from a wide measuring range. PACEline CMA is now also available for the following measuring ranges - which enables you to select the amplifier that matches the sensors' measuring range:
- 1 000 pC
- 2 000 pC
- 5 000 pC
- 20 000 pC
- 2 000 000 pC
- 5 000 000 pC
CMA5000 charge amplifier with large measuring range
The CMA5000 charge amplifier has a measuring range of 5 million picocoulombs (pC) and allows monitoring of machines and systems where high forces are generated.
With its enormous input range of 5 nC, the CMA5000 can process charges corresponding to forces exceeding 1.1 MN. Furthermore, the charge amplifier has two input sockets connected in parallel, thus enabling the instrument also to be used when two smaller, distributed sensors are to be connected in parallel. This cost-efficient solution eliminates the need for additional summing elements and wiring to be purchased.
The charge amplifier for piezoelectric sensors offers IP65 protection and can be used in industrial applications without any problems.
The CMA5000 is linked to higher-level data acquisition systems via the analog signal output (+/-10 V DC). Two calibrated, internal measuring ranges - 100% and 20% of the nominal (rated) measuring range - allow precise adaptation of the measuring range.
Accessory

CSB4/1 summing box
Simplify the installation of piezoelectric sensors. The CSB4/1 summing box enables up to four piezoelectric sensors to be connected in parallel to an amplifier input. It can be fastened with screws and features electrical isolation of enclosure and sensor shielding.
ePLAN

In addition to the industrial amplifiers HBM provides the appropriate ePLAN macros. They allow easy and error-free integration of the instruments in the project planning of the automation environment.
ePLAN Electric P8 is an engineering tool for modern CAE software supported by a database and facilitates consistent project planning, documentation and administration of automation systems. ePLAN macros enable users to easily integrate the process controllers in their project planning. Parts data, drawings and pin assignments are available in ePLAN Electric P8 immediately after import of the macros.
The free macros are available on the documentation CD included in the process controllers' scope of supply and can also be downloaded here.
