Using crack propagation gages, it is possible to determine the crack propagation on a component. HBM offers three different types:

• RDS20
• RDS22
• RDS40

The crack propagation gage consists of grid lines connected in parallel which will tear if the crack extends underneath the crack propagation gage. This will increase the electrical resistance of the strain gage in stages as the crack continues to extend.
