PACEline CFW - Piezoelectric Force Washer with Innovative Design

The CFW piezoelectric force washer - the latest member of HBM's PACEline family - ensures reliable results in assembly and testing. Thanks to its compact Donut Load Cell design, CFW force washer can be used in many different applications.

CFW piezoelectric force washers are now available with nominal (rated) forces of 330 and 700 kN. The size of the new force washers also enables use in massive constructions. In addition, HBM also provides mounting aids for CFW with immediate effect. The CPS sets of pre-stressing elements facilitate installation of the force washers.

PACEline CFW is a very reliable sensor ensuring reliable test results even in adverse industrial environments. CFW is the first piezoelectric force washer that, irrespective of its small size, provides an efficient plug protection* - an important prerequisite for smooth long-term use.

PACEline CFW is presently available with nominal (rated) forces of 20 kN, 50 kN, 100 kN, 140 kN, 190 kN, 330 kN and 700 kN. Since the output signal is not dependent on the measuring range but on the force applied, CFW force sensors withstand very high overloads. Hence, CFW allows for over-dimensioning without loss of accuracy and resolution.

Mounting aid for Force washer

Piezoelectric force washers require pre-stressing. The new CPS sets of pre-stressing elements facilitate easy and permanent pre-stressing. They are made from stainless steel and offer the required hardness as well as the bolt pitches selected to match the typical pre-stressing force.

A set of pre-stressing elements includes a bolt, a washer and a nut. The figure below gives a schematic representation of the setup.

CSB4/1 summing box

Simplify the installation of piezoelectric sensors. The CSB4/1 summing box enables up to four piezoelectric sensors to be connected in parallel to an amplifier input. It can be fastened with screws and features electrical isolation of enclosure and sensor shielding.

All cables for piezoelectric transducers from HBM are particularly noise-free and can be used over the sensors' entire temperature range.

  • O-ring seal at sensor for extremely harsh conditions of use
  • Suitable for all sensors with plug, CSB summing box and CMA amplifier


  • Cable length: 2 or 3 m
  • One side with type 10-32 UNF plug, other cable side with BNC plug
  • For connection of all sensors with plug, CSB summing box and CMD digital charge amplifier
