Long-term measurement of service loads on the landing gear of a commercial airliner
To assess the reliability of aircraft landing gear, a research program was initiated whose focus was the long-term investigation of landing-gear forces on a Lufthansa Airbus A300.
To assess the reliability of aircraft landing gear, a research program was initiated whose focus was the long-term investigation of landing-gear forces on a Lufthansa Airbus A300. A total of 168 strain gages were applied at selected measuring points along the nose- and main landing gear and values were tracked via an on-board measuring and recording system. After a three-year test period under demanding environmental conditions, data covering about 2200 flights were statistically evaluated.
