The alpha 3000 system is a new versatile integrated measuring amplifier system for the electrical measurement of mechanical quantities which can be operated in manual digital or computer compatible form. This article describes the technical advantages of the system and presents three application examples. Due to its modular construction and the use of modern electronic components, the amplifiers and auxiliaries can provide a remarkable spectrum of enhanced functional properties in a compact form. The CMS 32 is the basis for the computer controlled version of the alpha 3000 system. It is a self sufficient computer compatible, microprocessor based amplifier control unit. The measurement chains can be operated at four levels from the conventional manual operation to the complete digital supervisory control with a computer.
