Main metrological characteristics of IMGC six-component dynamometer
The results of intercomparisons of force standards between several european countries has uncovered uncertainties higher than can be expected.
The results of intercomparisons of force standards between several european countries has uncovered uncertainties higher than can be expected. The main sources of these differences are parasitic effects caused by undesirable components such as transverse forces and moments. The main objective of six component dynamometer measurements is the determination of the behavior and defects of force standard machines and thereby improve the performance by reducing these defects. This article describes the six component dynamometer, its calibration, and the accuracy obtained under various conditions. A method is also shown to correct for certain transverse components and thereby reduce error.
