Test equipment for bridge bearing components
The MPA Stuttgart (Materials Testing Institute) uses special test equipment for bridge bearing components to increase safety in construction.

The test equipment also includes a complete measurement system from HBM comprising displacement, pressure, and force transducers as well as the MGCplus amplifier system.
Test equipment tasks include, for example:
- Basic and approval testing to provide evidence that materials and lubricants are suitable for use in bridge bearings and structural engineering. For this purpose, short and long-term tests are conducted, depending on stress parameters such as pressure, temperature, and speed as well as for measuring friction, wear, and settling behavior (creep).
- Acceptance testing of bearing components
- Certification of components
- Analysis of cases of damage.
HBM provides all the transducers suited to the wide range of tasks
covered by the test equipment:
- WA displacement transducers for distance monitoring and settling behavior P3MB pressure transducers for system pressure monitoring U2A force transducers for measuring friction force (in friction tests).
- The MGCplus amplifier system which is used in addition acquires data from HBM transducers as well as other quantities, for example, temperature.
