Measuring acceleration in a 360° looping orbit

A Bavarian manufacturer has built a looping track with a 360° loop for an amusement park in California. As such a track was also planned for West Germany, the TÜV Bayern carried out safety tests on the loop before its delivery to America. During these tests the measured accelerations proved to be of particular interest.
One of the roller coaster cars was therefore equipped with measuring devices to record the accelerations achieved during the ride. The following paper describes the measurements with inductive acceleration transducers which recorded accelerations of over 5 g.
