This article takes a look at a new HBM product, the Digibar Digital Pressure Gage. One reason the Digibar merits an article of its own is that it is not just an ordinary pressure gage, bot it is an instrument which combines a number of monitoring functions to aid pressure measurement and evaluation.

The article shows how Digibar is the result of developments in a number of different technologies and is the culmination of long years of experience at HBM in the fields of thin-film vapor-deposition techniques and electronics. But the prime reason for this article is that Digibar heralds the start of a new generation where new technologies, such as microelectronics and surface mounted devices, will assume ever increasing roles, even in those fields of measurement which have until now been dominated by mechanical instruments.
