System for determining residual stress

The strength behavior of components is influenced by residual stresses existing in the components, without showing any visible signs. With the hole-drilling method you can determine mechanical stresses by drilling a small hole of 1.6mm diameter into the work piece and use strain gages to measure the resulting strain.
