How to get started with your new DAQ module?

Connected to a PC, all QuantumX and SomatXR modules are data acquisition systems on its own.
They offer universal or dedicated inputs to cover all common transducer technologies and busses for various tasks in mobile and stationary applications.

1. Sensor connection

To connect a sensor to your module, please check the wiring diagrams in the user manuals:

We offer connectors to build your sensor cable and for SomatXR even universal sensor cables with open wires (1-KAB183-x and 1-KAB184-x).

2. PC connection

To connect a module to a PC, use a standard Ethernet cable:

QuantumX: 1-KAB239-2
SomatXR MX471C-R, CX27C-R and CX22B-R: 1-KAB2106-x
SomatXR others: 1-KAB273-5

and connect it to the module and your PC’s Ethernet port. The CX27C/-R, MX471C/-R and MXFS modules can also be connected to the PC using the front Ethernet connection.
If your PC is set to DHCP, the network is automatically configured via DHCP/APIPA. You will find the module via the HBM Device Manager, the MX Assistant or your DAQ software catman Easy/AP. For alternative connection please check the operating manuals.

3. Powering

Connect the module to a DC voltage of 10 to 30 V (e.g. 24 V). With a supply voltage of > 30 V, defects in the module cannot be ruled out. If the supply voltage falls below 10 V, the module switches itself off. Reverse polarity protection is guaranteed.

For battery operation in a vehicle, we recommend installing an uninterruptible power supply (QuantumX: 1-UPX001-2, SomatXR: 1-UPX002-2) between the battery and the module, to compensate for voltage dips during startup. For continuous operation without wearing out the installed battery, we recommend a backup battery that can be used when required.
