Scale up and distribute modules

With QuantumX and SomatXR you can scale your system in a hugh variety depending on your needs.
Install your selection of modules as close to the measuring points as possible or combine distributed and centralized modules, building up a synchronized data acquisition network.

1. Topologies

For central topologies and distribution below 5 m we recommend using FireWire as system connection between the modules as it can handle data, power and sync

For a distribution over 5 m QuantumX and SomatXR modules offer a synchronization as well via Ethernet PTPv2 (IEE1588:2008). In an Ethernet topology each module has to be powered separately as only data and sync can be handled via Ethernet.

Both topology options (FireWire and Ethernet PTP) can also be combined.

2. Routing to PC

The following modules have an additional gateway function:

CX22B/-W/-R-W (Data Recorder)
CX27C/-R (Industrial Ethernet Gateway)
MX471C/-R (CAN FD / CAN Module)

and are used to route all data from connected modules via a central Ethernet line to a PC as today’s PC doesn’t offer a FireWire interface anymore.

3. Powering multiple modules

Connect each third module to a DC voltage of 10 to 30 V and observe the same hints valid for powering a single module.
