KY SG Chains for Determining Strain Gradients
Strain gauge (SG) chains types KY1, KY2, KY3, KY4, KY5, KY6, KY7, KY8 and KY9 consist of 10 or 15 very small measuring grids that are placed on a common carrier at a constant spacing (equidistant apart) plus one compensation SG. SG chains are especially suitable for determining strain gradients.
HBM also provides SG chains with multiple rosettes and alternating measuring grid directions, thus making it possible to determine the gradient of a biaxial stress state as well. The temperature responses of SG chains are adapted to customer specification. The nominal (rated) resistance of SG chains is 120 ohms.
For more detailed information about measuring with SG chains, refer to our technical publication "An Introduction to Measurements Using Strain Gauges".
The measuring grid consists of constantan; the material of the measuring grid carrier is polyimide.
