Calibrated torque transducers are required when large drives for agricultural machinery, ships or the automotive sector are being developed and tested. Generally, only DAkkS calibration certificates (DAkkS = National accreditation body for the Federal Republic of Germany) issued by accredited calibration laboratories are accepted. With the new 400 kN•m torque calibration machine in its accredited in-house calibration laboratory, HBM has the only commercial calibration machine for high torques in Europe and is able to guarantee short delivery times.
The HBM calibration laboratory can now calibrate the complete line of torque products ranging from 0.5 N•m to 400 kN•m.
The new reference machine is vertically aligned and enables both clockwise and counter clockwise torque to be calibrated in compliance with the recognized standards DIN 51309 and VDI2646.
Special torque transducers in the range of 150 kN•m and 400 kN•m only designed for this calibration machine –based on T10FH transducers which are used as reference transducers. The two precision reference transducers enables ±0.1 % measurement uncertainty in the range from 20 kN·m - 400 kN·m and ±0.15 % in the range 3 kN·m - 20 kN·m
The documented, uninterrupted chain of comparison measurements that allows traceability of these torque transducers to the German National Standard contributes considerably to this achievement. The German National Standard, the top-level calibration machine with 1.1 MN•m also called torque "torque standard test machine" and located at PTB (German National Metrology Institute), offers a measurement uncertainty of 0.08%.
In 1977, HBM was the first German company to be accredited as an official DAkkS calibration laboratory. Since then, measuring equipment for a wide range of measured quantities has been calibrated on behalf of customers to ensure traceability per DIN EN ISO 9001. The measuring capabilities of the reference standards used are verified by the German National Metrology Institute (PTB) at regular intervals. The calibration certificate is proof of traceability.
