Calculating Residual Stress from the Measured Strain

One of the most crucial points when doing a residual stress analysis is the calculation of the results, starting from the measured strains. The hole drilling method provides a very well-known calculation in accordance with the ASTM E837 standard. There are also additional options that have been developed in recent years, each one having advantages and disadvantages. This webinar will provide some suggestions and hints to improve the calculation of the residual stress by hole drilling, with some practical examples and a focus on the typical uncertainty of this type of analysis.
