As aerospace engineers design new aircraft powered by distributed electric propulsion systems, they face new challenges to ensure that their designs are safe and efficient. Changes to the size, number and location of the propulsion units on the aircraft lead to new design architectures that require additional testing. Factors such as modal, flutter, structural fatigue and motor/inverter characterization can be evaluated using a holistic measurement approach to validate a new aircraft design.
