Key areas of responsibility
The software engineering department is seeking an embedded software engineer to join our team (currently 50% PC application engineers, 50% embedded software engineers). You will assist in creating, extending and maintaining our existing code base, including architecture aspects. In the near future a large scale 'green field' project will be started; you will assist in creation of this new platform. You have a strong opinion on what ‘good’ code entails and are happy to discuss with/influence your colleagues. You will be comfortable participating in the full life-cycle of the project from beginning (concept, architecture) to end (QA, support). You will be working with hardware/software engineers (local, global) to design and implement robust/high quality code.

HBM Netherlands B.V. is one of the four R&D centers of HBM. It is located in Waalwijk, Netherlands, with a complementary engineering team located in Porto. Our organization takes on full responsibility for the development of the Genesis HIGHSPEED product line of HBM. The team is working with customers and HBM to create World’s fastest and most reliable high speed data acquisition systems. Amongst our customers are all major players of the space avionic, automotive and power industry. The team drives high speed measurement beyond barriers of standard test and measurement equipment, while maintaining a superior reliability. Reliability is an essential aspect as many experiments of our customers are of a destructive nature (with only 1 chance of capturing the data). The capabilities of the product R&D team include product system architecture, industrial design, mechanics, software, electronics, system architecture, storage devices and networking technology.
- Master degree in software engineering or comparable
- 3+ years of experience with software engineering preferred, excellent starters are also welcome to apply
- Excellent C++/ OO skills, familiar with .NET/C#
- Familiar with both Linux OS and its relevant development toolchains
- Solid understanding of ‘good/maintainable’ architecture/design/code
- Some experience in multi-threading/real-time/high-throughput in welcome
- Team player, but also able to solve problems individually
- Accurate, practical and result driven personality
- Good communication skills in English (both text and speech)
