Operational Modal Analysis (OMA) is used instead of Classical Modal Analysis (CMA) for accurate modal parameter identification under actual operating conditions and in situations where it is difficult or impossible to artificially excite the structure.
From originally being developed for modal analysis of large civil engineering structures, OMA is today also widely used for mechanical structures such as vehicles, aircraft, ships and machinery.
