As the first German company having been certified to ISO 9001 (in 1986), HBM has always developed its products in line with international quality standards.
- In 1977, the HBM calibration laboratory was the first in Germany to be accredited by DKD (German Calibration Service, today: DAkkS). HBM calibrates measuring instruments for different measurement quantities to customer order, guaranteeing traceability as required by ISO 9001.
- In 1991, the HBM Test Laboratory for Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) was one of the first to be accredited in Germany. Alongside testing HBM's own products, the laboratory offers its services externally to customers, such as accomplishing the required tests to obtain CE certification.
- HBM's environmental management system has been certified to ISO 14001 since 1996. This underlines the company's achievement and continued determination to act in an environmentally responsible way.
- In May 2015, HBM's energy management system was certified to ISO 50001.

HBM realized early on that the environmental impact of its high-quality products would require comprehensive consideration. By 1996, the measures implemented by the company resulted in the certification of HBM's Environmental Management System in compliance with ISO 14001 (see also information on Certification and Accreditation).
The ongoing introduction of EU directives, and their implementation in the form of laws, regulations, etc. on a national level, involve extensive responsibilities for the adaptation of products to changing requirements.
At HBM, we consider this a challenge which will ultimately benefit our customers and the environment alike. Consequently, in almost all cases, our products comply with these requirements well before compliance becomes legally binding.
